# Look

> Give a bot a 3D character or a photo.

Every bot has a picture. By default it is one of 28 **3D characters**, which blink and glance around. You can pick a different character, change its body color, or upload a photo.

## A new bot's character

When you create a bot, it starts with a random character. You can pick another in the same dialog before you click **Create**.

A bot that has no character chosen shows one based on its id, in that character's own color. It never changes on its own.

## Change the character

1. Open the bot's settings.
2. Click the pencil on the bot's picture to open **Avatar Studio**.
3. On the **Bot** tab, pick a character from **Characters**.
4. Optional: under **Body color**, pick a swatch, choose any color, or type a hex code like `#3366FF`.
5. Click **Done**.

**Reset** gives a character back its own color. On any other look, it switches back to the bot's default character.

## Upload a photo

In **Avatar Studio**, open the **Upload** tab, then drag, drop or paste an image, or click **Choose file**. The image is cropped to a circle.

## See the picture large

Click the bot's picture in its settings. It opens large, in a circle. Click anywhere to close it.
