# Spaces

> Separate areas inside a company, each with its own bots.

A **space** is a workspace inside a company. Each space has its own bots, group chats, routines, memory and settings. Use spaces to keep work apart, for example one for customer service and one for marketing.

Every company starts with one main space, named after the company.

## Create a space

Open the space switcher and choose **New space**. Space names can be up to 60 characters. A new space starts with its own bots and groups.

## Switch spaces

Pick a space from the space switcher. Spaces from other companies you belong to are listed as **Company · Space**.

## Who is in a space

People join spaces when they are invited, or when an owner or admin adds them from **People**. Everyone keeps at least one space.

Inside a space, each bot can be visible to everyone, to admins only, or to named people. See [Bots](https://docs.usecadence.gg/bots/overview.md#who-can-see-a-bot).

## Rename or delete

Only the space's owner can rename or delete it.

## Settings per space

Three settings can be customized for a space so they differ from your account defaults: models, approvals and voice. Ending the customization goes back to the account's settings.

## Budgets

Space owners and admins can set a monthly budget for the space's model usage, in US dollars. Cadence warns when usage reaches a share of it (80% by default).
