Bots remember. They keep notes as Markdown documents, read them back at the start of each run, and update them as they learn.

What a bot keeps

  • The bot’s own notes. The main one is MEMORY.md, which the bot reads first on every run.
  • Shared memory. Notes every bot in the space reads and keeps up to date, such as facts about your business.
  • Past chats. Older conversations are kept where the bot can search them, but they are not loaded into every run.
On each run, the bot loads its most important notes (about 32 KB, with MEMORY.md first). It finds older material by searching.

How bots use memory

Bots save and look things up with built-in tools: You can also just tell the bot: “Remember that we close at 6pm on Fridays.”

See and edit memory

Open the bot’s settings and find Memory. You can:
  • Open a document, edit it, and click Save.
  • Download a document.
  • Delete documents you no longer want.
Automatic changes lists what the bot changed on its own recently. Click Undo on any of them.

Memory upkeep

In memory settings, these switches are on by default:

Memory providers

You can connect a memory provider (Supermemory, Serenity or Honcho) so bots can save and recall facts by meaning, alongside MEMORY.md. With a provider connected, you choose a Default scope:
  • Isolated: each bot has its own memories.
  • Shared: bots in the space share them.
Each bot can follow the default or override it under Advanced.
