Chat with a bot

Every bot has its own chat. Type a message, attach files, and the bot replies. While it works you see what it is doing, and you can send more messages to steer it. When a bot finishes a task, you get a notification.

Group chats

A group puts up to 10 bots in one chat, so they can work together. Click + at the top of the sidebar, then New group chat. Name a bot with @ to ask it directly. Under Who answers when you don’t name anyone, choose: You can put a member On hold so it stays in the group but does not answer, and give the whole group Group instructions.

Bots talking to bots

Bots can message each other and hand work over. A bot uses message_bot to ask another bot something and handoff_to_bot to pass a task along.

Other chats a bot has

Besides its main chat, a bot can have:
  • A chat for each routine, where that routine’s runs appear.
  • A chat for each conversation in a channel, such as a Slack thread or a WhatsApp contact.
Bots can search their own chats with search_chats and read_chat.
